Nutrient pollution is a major environmental issue affecting freshwater habitats and estuaries and whilst action has been taken by the government to tackle the problem, restrictions were put in place to restrict building in some of the worst affected areas until the mitigating actions have had time to take effect.
It was thought that extra wastewater from new housing developments could make the situation worse and undermine the ongoing efforts to recover the sites. The installation of Control Flow HL2024 ®, can significantly reduce the volume of nutrients created by new and existing properties in the affected areas by reducing the water usage in those areas.
Control Flow devices can be used as mitigation measures in nutrient neutrality areas, saving on average 84 litres of water wastage per household per day, and these devices have been used to unlock planning permission for over 1,000 homes.
